The universal computer gave us a machine whose possibilities we are still discovering. The same device can become a laboratory, a canvas, an instrument, or the beginning of a company.
I want to help build its counterpart in the physical world.
A universal factory. Somewhere you can send a digital design and get back a finished, functioning thing. A tool that gives more people the freedom to make what they imagine.
We’re starting with robotic assembly: building the hardware and software to put parts together, and to figure out how to assemble different products without engineering every process from scratch. From there, we intend to expand what the factory can make.
What draws me to this is a burning optimism about people.
We are builders. We create knowledge, discover possibilities, and make things that previous generations could scarcely have imagined. Every new tool puts more within our reach. I want to know what people will create when making a physical product becomes dramatically easier.
That is why I’m building Structis.
And I’m looking for people who feel this deeply enough to help make it happen.
People who would paint the side of the fence nobody sees. Who need to respect their own work, even when nobody is there to judge it.
People who think for themselves. Who go back to first principles, question an accepted answer, and have the courage to pursue a different one. Who welcome criticism with the same seriousness they bring to their convictions.
People who want to give their time to something they find meaningful. Who have enormous ambitions for humanity and are willing to spend an afternoon getting one small mechanism right.
We’re at the beginning. There are machines to build, assumptions to overturn, and years of difficult work ahead.
If this feels like work you want to give yourself to, write to me.
Tell me what you believe is possible. Show me something you’ve made.
